[] It provides superior read protection. Those with an account in one need not have an account in the other. You CANNOT read data in the other database with the DOORS client. Yes DOORS provides the mechanism within a single database but trust me ... there are ways to make mistakes that allow someone read access. Its unlikely that the various powers will mindfully and carefully preserve suitable access 100% of the time, and an evil person can and will monitor and exploit weaknesses, even if its just for a moment. This is one of those "unloaded gun" situations.

[] It provides better nuanced Database and Project level administration. Those with DB or Project admin powers/rights in one database need not have such powers/rights in the other.
[] I suppose it may let you more easily communicate projects with consortium partners who use a different version of DOORS.
